Background
Sometimes it's not possible to auto-detect the driver type for a printer.
If you experience a 'Could not detect printer type' during the printer wizard, then it's likely that the Coreza Print driver could not query (connect to) or could not determine the driver type from the printer (bi directional communication disabled).
This guide will take you through the necessary steps to manually set up a printer when bidirectional communication is not available.
To proceed you will need to know which Page Description Languages the printer supports.
1) Find the supported driver types
Please consult the specification brochure or manufacturers website to determine which PDLs are supported.
Page Description Language is also known by the following names:
- PDL
- Emulation
- Driver types
- Format support
The printers supported PDL list must contain one or more of the following list:
- PCL3-GUI, PCL5e, PCL5c, PCL6, PCL XL-JetReady, PostScript3, BRScript, Airprint (tm), PWG, PDF
If the printer supports both PCL6 and PostScript 3 we suggest to use PostScript 3 in preference to PCL6.
Use either PCL6 or PostScript 3 in preference to PDF format.
2) Enter the 'Add printer wizard' from the left-menu
Select 'manual registration'
3) Enter the IP address of the printer
Enter the IP address, please enter the bare IP or hostname
4) Select a supported PDL
5) Select the printer capabilities
Manually select duplex, color and paper options.
6) Add the printer to the Map and test print
